Our Tips on Losing Body Weight with at Home Workouts

When it comes to losing body fat you will need to consider a whole-body approach. Though many people feel that a heavy emphasis on cardio and restrictive dieting is the best-bet for fat loss, this often leads to failure or a short-term solution only. Our tips focus on sustainable fitness goals that will help you lose body fat in a more positive and long-term focused manner.

Focus on Strength – strength training will aid you in losing body fat while also giving you the added benefit of building strength. Strong muscles will not only assist you in achieving your aesthetic related weight loss goals, but it will also help you in your everyday life and is highly functional. Your strong muscles will help you feel better and make you more capable. Though some may worry that strength training might make them look “too big” this is rarely something you should be worried about. Focusing on strength training will help you burn calories while also aiding you in keeping your body strong and capable.

Do Cardio You Enjoy – many people feel that the best way to lose body fat is by doing lots of cardio. There is no doubt that cardio workouts can be a great way to burn calories and in turn make progress towards your fat loss goals. But if you don’t like cardio this might not be sustainable and could even leave you feeling burnt out and unmotivated to achieve your goals. Instead of spending hours on a treadmill (unless you like this of course!) try doing cardio workouts that you enjoy. Working out from home can be hard enough to motivate yourself for as is. Consider a spin bike class at home, or try dance as a cardio workout. Adding cardio that you enjoy doing to your workout routine will help make your efforts towards fat loss more sustainable.

Nourish Your Body – when you are looking to lose body fat you simply cannot ignore that nutrition plays a role in your results. You could be working out hard, but if what you are eating isn’t reflecting your desired goals you likely won’t see the results you are looking for. This does not mean that you have to take an all or nothing approach to nutrition. Instead, focus on eating foods that you enjoy that are nutrient-dense and fuel your body. You don’t have to follow a highly restrictive diet in order to lose body fat, but you should work towards being mindful of what you eat and move towards choosing options that complement your goals.

Get Adequate Sleep – though it may not always be your top priority, getting adequate sleep is important when it comes to losing body fat. Your sleep quality can contribute to your weight loss and fat loss success for many reasons and getting more sleep is worth your time. Webmd offers some great insight into why sleep is so important when looking to lose body fat.

Be Realistic and Stay Positive

If you struggle with losing body fat you are not alone. Many people set fat and weight loss goals and feel deflated when they don’t see the results, they are looking for right away. Bodies are complex and no one person will have the same success at the same timeline as others. Try not to compare yourself to others and be positive about the process of working towards a fat loss goal. Set realistic expectations on yourself and be gentle with yourself if your goals don’t get achieve as you would expect. Every workout counts and your consistency will be rewarded.
